Industrialisation Manufacturing Engineer

Full Time

Derby/Site Based

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us as an Industrialisation Manufacturing Engineer in the Turbines facility in Derby.
 

As an Industrialisation Manufacturing Engineer, you will execute Manufacturing Product Introduction activities, including the design of the overall Method of Manufacture and of individual process steps using the Product Quality Planning toolset.

You will create and validate Production Technical Packages which are capable of delivering design definition and meeting customer and business requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate & leadtime (SQCD). Working cross-functionally as part of the extended Integrated Project Team (IPT), planning and co-ordinating Man Eng activities to deliver the functional deliverables in line with accepted timescales.


Where required, act as Product Introduction (PI) Component Lead, integrating the manufacturing engineering activities across the complete value stream as the primary Manufacturing Engineering representative within the core IPT for their owned part(s).
Work in line with the Integrated Product & Production Readiness process (IPPR), and implement the Production Product Approval Process (PPAP) for all applicable projects.

You will be working for the Rolls-Royce Technical Authority for Aerospace Engine Test Facilities.  In this role you will be working with colleagues locally (either in Derby or Bristol), and opportunities also exist to work more widely within the UK as well as Internationally. 

What you will be doing

In this role you will ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme., in addition you will be:

Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design definition and responsible for mitigating against process deviation.Operate a culture of zero defects within the organisation. Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, SABRe and Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements.Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes, digital systems and technologies to meet current or future requirements.Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. Ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales.Develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems and/or methods of manufacture which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.Create, Maintain and/or Govern elements of the Technical Package which clearly define the manufacturing process and control them effectively.Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required. Identify, document and share best practice. Capture and utilise lessons learnt.Attend IPT meetings, representing the whole value stream of their owned part(s), communicating a consolidated view of ME plans, current status and issues requiring escalation.Ensure attendance of required MEs and manufacturing Process Owners at IPT meetings as required to support more detailed discussion.Responsible for self-development to meet the required competencies for the role. Provides coaching and technical support to others within their area of competence.Operate beneficial relationships with partners and suppliers to enable delivery of their objectives.

Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent).Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK Eng or CEng) where available.General understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to their business.General awareness of Manufacturing Systems and enabling software tools relevant to the business.Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes relevant to their role.
