Infection Prevention Coordinator
Job Description

Full Time / Days

Coordinates the Infection Control program for the Medical Center. Manages the day to day operations of the Infection Control process. Educates Medical Center staff and medical staff members on issues related to Infection control. Monitors compliance to the Infection Control Plan. Communicates, as appropriate, with the Etowah County Health Department, CDC, and others. Serves as a resource and liaison for infection control issues. Prepares reports and presents information to various committee / audiences. The Infection Prevention Coordinator reports to the Chief Quality Officer.

Education REQUIRED: RN preferred or Master's of Public Health with focus on Infection Prevention. CBIC preferred or certification obtained within 2 years of hire.

Experience REQUIRED: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and Federal/State regulations related to infection prevention and control required. Data management skills, including the use of statistical methods, required. Computer skills including word processing, Excel spreadsheets, internet and intranet required. 

Licenses/Certificates REQUIRED: Certification CBIC preferred, if not certified, must be willing to obtain within 2 years.
