**Job Description**
Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawai‘i. The Quality Management staff provides infection control oversight throughout the hospital in order to ensure a safe care environment. These dedicated professionals identify, investigate and record data concerning nosocomial or hospital-acquired infections. They perform quality improvement studies to identify and implement action plans to improve the prevention of nosocomial infections, as well as plan and measure unit rotation to meet The Joint Commission, State and Federal regulations as directed by the Infection Control Committee.
If you have meticulous, highly organized and rigorous work skills, you could help the Quality team maintain Wilcox’s network of hospitals and clinics the safest, most secure health care environments possible. As the Registered Nurse Infection Preventionist, will ensure that the department’s work to keep nosocomial infection under control. We are looking for someone with a singular commitment to quality control and accurate data collection, willingness to work with others in a team-oriented atmosphere and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawai‘i.

**Minimum Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Epidemiology, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Current Hawaii RN license. Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) OR attainment within thirty-six (36) months of hire. Three (3) years acute care clinical nursing or epidemiology experience.
**Preferred Qualifications:** Completion of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Training on the Patient Safety Component Module. Completion of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) course on Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) process. Experience in hospital infection control, prevention, and surveillance. Experience in program development and/or project coordination.

Rate of pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant experience and training, as well as internal peer equity.
