Overview Part Time Position Monday - Friday (16hrs. weekly) The Infection Preventionist (IP) participates in implementing the Infection Control Plan under the direction of the Director of Infection Prevention and Control and the IP&C Medical Director. The IP works to prevent, identify, monitor, and, control the spread of, infection. The IP participates in surveillance, data collection and analysis, data presentation, improvement teams, policy review, and staff education across the organization. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's degree. Specific course work: Bachelor's degree in nursing, medicine, pharmacy, respiratory care, medical technology, microbiology -OR- a Master's degree in Public Health or Epidemiology. Certified in Infection Control (CIC) within three (3) years of hire or transfer. CIC does not have to be maintained. Required Licensure/Certifications: See Required Education section Necessary Skills: 1. Customer Service -this position will respond to multiple requests from leaders within the organization as well as from outside entities. Must be able to respond quickly and graciously to requests for information and standards interpretation. Responses are often required in presentation format. 2. Interpersonal skills - this position will respond effectively to inquiries and produce unbiased analysis of controversial or complex topics. Strong communication skills are required. 3. Communication Skills - must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing in a manner that resonates with all levels of the organization 4. Ability to maintain confidentiality - this position will have access to high level, sensitive, confidential, data. Must be able to maintain this data in a confidential manner. 5. Organizational Skills - must be highly skilled in managing multiple priorities and project management. 6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). 7. The ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. 8. The ability to deal with both abstract and concrete concepts. 9. The ability to manage web-based databases. 10. The ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of problems. Required Experience: 1-2 years of healthcare experience
