Summary This position is located in the Office of Executive Director (EX), Bureau of the Comptroller and Global Financial Services (CGFS) and is located in Charleston, SC. The incumbent provides network infrastructure, information security, application development, and mobile computing services. Responsibilities Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. Develops policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. Applies information obtained in formulating security policies and procedures. Promotes awareness of security issues among management and end-users and ensures that sound security principles are reflected in organizations’ visions and goals. May participate in seminars, conferences, and other professional meetings in order to exchange information on program related matters. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants applying for the GS-13 grade level must meet the following requirements: Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below: Attention to Detail - Assesses breaches of security to determine their impact on system operations and the confidentiality, integrity, and reliability of the information stored and manipulated within the system. Customer Service - Coordinates development work with higher echelon information security organizations, end-users within and outside the Bureau and Department, and with other IT Specialists within the Bureau IT organization. Oral Communication - Participate in seminars, conferences, and other professional meetings in order to exchange information on program related matters. Problem Solving - Promotes awareness of security issues among management and end-users and ensures that sound security principles are reflected in organizations’ visions and goals. AND Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience conducting systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews to ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures. Experience working with agencies to ensure the integrity of the networks are following standards and procedures. Experience developing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data NOTE: In order to qualify for this position, your experience MUST be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position. Education Education requirements do not apply to this vacancy announcement.
