What You’ll do

 

As a Business Application Manager you will be leading the planning, implementation, and optimization of critical retail systems, including point-of-sale (POS) systems, credit card terminals, store inventory systems, and loyalty systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset with a strong understanding of retail operations, technology integration, and customer experience. As the key liaison between business units and IT, the Business Application Manager will ensure that technology solutions are aligned with business objectives to drive operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role will lead a team of IT professionals responsible for supporting and enhancing these retail systems across the organization.

 

Gain a deep understanding of the business processes, workflows, and data requirements for POS systems, credit card terminals, store inventory management, and loyalty programs.Establish strong partnerships with internal departments, including Operations, Marketing, Finance, and IT, as well as with external vendors and service providers.Collaborate with project managers, developers, and stakeholders to define scope, requirements, and technical designs that meet business needs and improve operational effectiveness.Document technical specifications, run books, and other operational requirements to support each retail system application.Plan and develop use-case test plans, perform unit and system testing, and ensure seamless implementation of retail applications.Develop a deep understanding of the retail systems architecture, including supporting infrastructure and systems integration.Administer and configure retail applications, ensuring that they meet operational standards and business requirements.Design, build, test, implement, and maintain integrations between retail systems and other internal and external applications (e.g., ERP, CRM, eCommerce platforms).Lead change management initiatives related to the introduction of new retail technologies or updates to existing ones, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.Work closely with stakeholders to address concerns, promote user adoption, and ensure a smooth transition to new technologies or system updates.Design, build, test, implement, and maintain custom components and extensions as necessary for retail systems.Assist with system administration tasks, including server upgrades, patch deployments, and general best practices for retail applications.Help define new business processes, data elements, and system change requests to enhance the functionality of retail systems.Provide on-call support for production retail systems, ensuring timely resolution of issues and minimal downtime.Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for retail systems, aligning technology solutions with business goals to drive efficiency and enhance the customer experience.Stay informed about industry trends and emerging retail technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.Configure and monitor application performance, capacity, and response times for retail systems to ensure optimal operation.Manage SQL databases, backups, restores, and maintenance for retail systems where applicable.Cross-train with other teams and perform additional duties as required to support overall business objectives.Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential Qualities for Success

 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science.5+ years’ experience supporting enteprise applications. Oracle retail applications a plus.Proficient in CRM, ERP, POS, Inventory Systems, Credit card processing & HardwareProficient in Microsoft AD Mgmt and Microsoft SQL MgmtExcellent communication and documentation skillsAbility to participate in our online applicant and new hire onboarding process remotelyAbility to complete computer-based training
