Summary About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 114th Signal Battalion in Racen Rock Mountain Complex. Responsibilities Design, modify, and construct the Alternate Joint Communications Center Network used for commercial applications and in performance measurements on test and evaluation projects. Develop and enacts network backup and recovery protocols, employing various network management and mapping software to detect potential congestion points and traffic anomalies. Provide assistance to managers and supervisors based on analysis of workforce factors such as turnover, absenteeism, fill rates, etc., to establish the true nature of any related personnel management problems. Evaluate advantages, assesses costs, conducts data comparisons, and delivers recommendations for potential system modifications or enhancements. Diagnose issues pertaining to network connectivity and skillfully under takes the installation or replacement of network hubs, routers, and switches. Involve developing and arranging the schedule for installation, testing, approval, and resource upkeep. Monitor and evaluate actual progress against approved timetables, identifying potential setbacks and suggesting corrective actions. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by demonstrated by interpreting network security requirements or modifying network device configurations to maintain security compliance; installing and maintaining operating system software and assisting in the development of new methods in network infrastructure design, implementation, or administration. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information If you are a current federal career/career-conditional employee, you will be placed on an excepted appointment. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). This position is designated as IAT Level II. Incumbent must possess or obtain and maintain IAT II certification within 6 months of assignment to the position and maintain thereafter as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating all changes). This position is subject to alert and operational recall and periodic work schedule changes to meet daily mission operational requirements. Incumbent is required to provide a reliable method of contact/communication (e.g., telephone/pager) and respond within 1 hour of notification receipt. Incumbent (or Selectee) is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoDM 8140.03 Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program dated 15 February 2023.
