The State of Connecticut (https://portal.ct.gov/) , Department of Administrative Services (DAS) (https://portal.ct.gov/das) , Bureau of Information Technology Solutions (BITS), is seeking to fill two (2) anticipated Information Technology Technician Trainee (https://www.jobapscloud.com/CT/specs/classspecdisplay.asp?ClassNumber=7600FR&LinkSpec=RecruitNum2&R1=&R3=) positions where the ideal candidates would have experience with help desk ticketing or change management, providing customer service verbally and in writing, responding to requests, and completing reports.

+ Sunday - Wednesday 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM OR Wednesday - Saturday 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM
+ Full-time (40 hours per week)
+ Location: Hartford, CT
+ Office/on-site work environment
+ The incumbents may be required to travel to and access various State of Connecticut IT facilities as needed.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency information systems environment this class is accountable for receiving on the job training in performing basic technical work involving help desk functions, user support and assisting in application support.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
+ Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting issues;
+ Collaborating and communicating with vendors and user/client community to resolve network problems;
+ Supporting batch job monitoring and scheduling tasks;
+ Providing technical support through help desk tools like BMC Helix or Footprints within a 24x7 operational environment;
+ Reporting and documenting network incidents and resolutions;
+ Assisting with change control processes in an enterprise-scale IT environment;
+ Helping maintain data center power and cabling infrastructure;
+ Gaining hands-on experience with network and IT facilities operations and systems;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in computer operations support or another computer related support area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training in management information systems, computer science, electrical engineering or information technology related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience or training in Network Operations or as a Liaison communicating with vendors to resolve issues
+ Experience or training in network monitoring with enterprise-scale tools and batch monitoring using scheduling platform tools
+ Experience or training with Help Desk ticketing or Change Management
+ Experience or training with circuit ordering or network equipment configuration
+ Experience or training with racking equipment in a computer equipment rack
