MITRE’s Information Security department seeks an Operations Intern to support the investigation of cyber security incidents within the organization. This position offers a challenging opportunity to be exposed to a diverse set of security disciplines, including incident response, forensics, reverse engineering, malware analysis, intrusion detection, network security and system security. MITRE has long been a source of cyber security innovation and continues to seek dedicated and talented individuals. Job Responsibilities-- + Develop new detections and apply mitigations for adversary Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). + Scripting to automate processes. + Hunt for undetected indicators of compromise. + Work with MITRE’s network infrastructure and network traffic flow. + Analyze log data for signs of malicious activity in a SIEM. Basic Qualifications + Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Cyber or Information Security or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship. + Familiarity with Splunk, or another SIEM + Familiarity with ATT&CK Preferred Qualifications + Experience having applied cybersecurity learning to an internship or research/lab position + Experience in cyber security operations + Familiarity with Linux, Mac and Windows Operating Systems. + An understanding of TCP/IP network protocols and application layer protocols (e.g., HTTP, SMTP, DNS, etc.). + Familiarity with adversary tactics techniques and procedures (TTPs). + Software development experience, preferably with Python. + Proficiency using Splunk, or another SIEM + Proficiency using wMITRE ATT&CK framework + Must be detail oriented and able to consistently follow incident investigation process. + Must have good analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. + Must be able to work well as part of a team and be self-motivated to work on individual projects. + Demonstrated interest in serving the public This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): None This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): None Salary compensation range and midpoint: $77,500 - $97,000 - $116,500 Annual Work Location Type: Hybrid MITRE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
