The Service Mesh Engineering team is a dynamic and skilled group responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our service mesh infrastructure, which forms the backbone of our microservice architecture. We play a crucial role in managing service-to-service connectivity, securing traffic, providing observability metrics, and enhancing service resilience through proper use of Hystrix, timeouts, and rate limiting. Our team collaborates closely, leveraging expertise in networking, infrastructure, microservices, and more.

Get to know the role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Infra Engineer to join our Service Mesh team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain our service mesh infrastructure, which forms the backbone of our microservice architecture. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing service-to-service communication, data plane, and control plane within a sophisticated cloud environment.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

Architect, deploy, and manage service mesh infrastructure using technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, Consul.Work closely with development teams to understand and cater to their service communication needs in a microservices architecture.Implement and manage service discovery, load-balancing, traffic management, and observability within the service mesh.Ensure secure inter-service communication with mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS) policies and access control.Respond promptly to service interruptions and assist in capacity planning and performance tuning.Proactively monitor service operations to detect and troubleshoot potential issues.Contribute to the continuous improvement of our DevOps practices.

 

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.1-3 years of experience in managing microservices architecture.Familiar with network protocols like HTTP, TCP/IP, and gRPC.Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools, infrastructure as code etc.Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python or Java.Excellent problem-solving skills, strong written and oral communication skills, along with the ability to work in a team.At our company, you will be part of a culture that values innovative problem-solving, open communication, and diverse, forward-thinking teams. Nice to haves

Familiarity with service mesh technologies like istio, linkerd, consul etc Knowledge and experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.Familiarity with cloud-native stack and cloud-based environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong understanding of security practices. Strong written and oral communication skills, along with the ability to work in a team.
