For more information regarding the benefit package go to: West Texas A&M University: Human Resources Benefits (https://www.wtamu.edu/business-finance/human-resources/benefits.html) General Summary The Infrastructure Administrator I, under direction of the Director of Infrastructure Operations and Support, performs infrastructure monitoring and routine infrastructure administration support functions, and cable plant management. Support functions include support of network equipment, video surveillance hardware and software, classroom infrastructure and instructional equipment, and desktop hardware and software. Other job duties include assisting in the review, analysis and remediation of information security controls and policies. Provides support for technology projects, risk assessments, disaster recovery planning, scheduling, purchasing and documentation. Works daily to ensure that IT is in compliance with West Texas A&M University rules and procedures, as well as with the Texas A&M University System, PCI security standards, and/or other standards such as FERPA, copyright laws, and the State of Texas Department of Information Resources Responsibilities: + Installs, operates, upgrades, and configures infrastructure system hardware and software. Assists with the implementation of new infrastructure systems or upgrades. Assists with the installation and configuration of infrastructure system software and hardware. + Helps analyze infrastructure system logs and identifies potential issues with systems. Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and software for infrastructure systems configuration problems and assists with troubleshooting network problems. Provides Tier I support and assists with Tier II support as needed. + Assists with testing for system upgrades or releases. + Completes infrastructure testing and application and conducts basic infrastructure performance analyses and tuning. Creates programs for automating infrastructure system administration. + Assists with recommendations, specifications, and plans for infrastructure system hardware and software purchases. + Documents infrastructure support methods, procedures, and configuration. + Assists with new technology deployments and system integration testing. + Monitors and maintains infrastructure system security. Provides backup, protection, and recovery support for client data. + Confers with other personnel in resolving problems involving procedural and technical matters. Researches problems and recommends solutions, and provides resource estimates and progress reports. + This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Necessary Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Two (2) years of related experience + Knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting, client relations, ingenuity, formulating and contributing ideas. + Strong written and oral communication skills. + Ability to work as an effective member in a team environment. + Ability to manage time and multi-task. + A strong customer service orientation + Experience working in a demanding and fast- paced environment. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. + Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Preferred Qualifications: + Master’s degree + Four (4) years in Information Technology in an professional environment. + CompTIA A+, CompTIA Networking+, CompTIA Security+ + Experience with Microsoft products and solutions, including Windows 11, and Active Directory. + Experience with Apple products and solutions including iOS and Mac devices and applications. + Experience with implementation and support of corporate network technologies. + Experience with implementation and support of classroom technologies. + Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). + Ability to mentor and motivate entry level technicians such as student technology workers. + Ability to establish and maintain standard operating procedures and related documentation Applicant Instructions: Please include the following with your application: + Cover letter + Resume + Three references Please attach all documents in the attachment box at the bottom of the “My Experience” page before continuing through the application.
