Infrastructure Engineer

Join our team of specialists across ASEANZ to support and maintain infrastructure solutions at Bayer. As an Infrastructure Engineer working from our Bayer Crop Science manufacturing site located in Pinkenba, Brisbane, you will ensure all required services are delivered and maintained to ensure a smooth IT operation. This will require collaboration with internal stakeholders and external third parties for infrastructure services. Additionally, you will ensure IT services support for business continuity, translate business requirements into IT services, and maintain smooth operations in the local market.

This role has a variety of responsibilities with key responsibilities outputs including:
Coding and Scripting
• Develop proficiency in the scripting tools and software that are essential in the design, build, management, and operation of infrastructure solutions and services
• Use scripting to automate common infrastructure management and operations task
Infrastructure Fundamentals
• Build, configure, administer, and support infrastructure technologies and solutions. These technologies and solutions can include computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS), and open source packages and solutions.
They can also include virtual and cloud computing such a Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS)
Information Security
• Identify information security risks and the controls that can be used to mitigate threats within solutions and services
Modern Standards Approach
• Build proficiency in the most important principles of a modern standards approach and awareness of how these standards apply to the work undertaken
Ownership and Initiative
• Own an issue until a new owner has been found or the problem has been mitigated or resolved.
• Listen to feedback from stakeholders and establish solutions that facilitate the achievement of business objective
Problem Management
• Investigate problems in systems, processes, and services, with an understanding of the level of a problem (e.g., strategic, tactical, or operational)
• Contribute to the implementation of remedies and preventative measures
Systems Design
• Translate logical designs into physical designs
• Produce detailed designs
• Effectively document all work using required standards, methods, and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate
• Design systems characterized by managed levels of risk, manageable business and technical complexity, and meaningful impact
Systems Integration
• Build and test simple interfaces between systems
• Work on more complex integration as part of a wider team
Technical Understanding
• Develop proficiency with core technical concepts related to the role and apply them with guidance
Testing
• Correctly execute test scripts under supervision
• Effectively incorporate testing into ways of working and delivered solutions and services
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution
• Troubleshoot and identify problems across different technology capabilities
• Manage escalations, provide essential IT knowledge, and support business opportunities for value creation
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following competencies and skills:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience in infrastructure engineering or a related role Experience with network administration, server management, and virtualization technologiesExperience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud infrastructure Proficiency in network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.)Strong understanding of server and storage systemsExperience with virtualization technologiesFamiliarity with scripting and automationStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issuesAbility to analyze system performance and identify optimization opportunitiesCapacity to understand and mitigate security risksAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment
