Arrow Electronics has an excellent opportunity for a Linux Engineer in our Bangalore, India locations working for Corporate IT support. This position will be responsible for in-house dedicated Redhat Linux Infrastructure in a global, complex, and rapidly growing environment. This role will be responsible for maintaining and expanding our Corporate Data Center’s production, staging, and test ecosystems. We are looking for a Linux Systems Engineer to be part of a strong and expanding team. The ideal candidate is someone who has in-depth experience administering the Linux & AIX production servers’ enterprise-level and highly available systems and a passion for identifying and implementing system improvements.

Principal Accountabilities:

The Infrastructure Engineer under moderate supervision is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting the Linux & AIX infrastructure. This involves analyzing, configuring, testing, and implementing the infrastructure. This may also involve monitoring and controlling the performance and status of the server infrastructure. This role will also support and maintain the infrastructure. This may include evaluating and making recommendations for enhancements to the existing server infrastructure. Tools and technologies.

Job DescriptionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOwnership of various systems engineering projects related to RHEL & AIX systems infrastructure.Major Incident Management supports and performs troubleshooting and works with various IT teams to troubleshoot performance issues.Hands-on experience with REDHAT Linux & AIX systems Admiration skills.Hands-on experience with Redhat Centrify configurations and managing the Redhat  Satellite serverExperience in a corporate environment on Linux with an ESXi/VMware Virtualization environment.Build, and troubleshoot the Redhat Linux servers.Recommend, design, and roll out and physical network, storage, and system improvements to ensure redundancy, high availability, and security.Exposure to the Ansible tower templates and executed the Ansible Automation playbooks.Design and Perform Patching schedules and ownership of OS and Security patching activities on Linux.Tune OS performance and ensure high availability of infrastructure.Bring automation ideas for reoccurring BAU tasks to increase systems efficiency and reduce human intervention.Hands-on experience in Ansible AutomationHands-on Experience with Oracle RAC cluster builds in a Linux VM environment.Join the Bridge calls and identify the infrastructure issues and resolve those issues in the Linux/AIX environment.Experience with the Linux/AIX builds as well as Operating system upgrades and service pack upgrades.Analyzing technical problems and creating solutions involving the use of existing techniques and tools.Experience on Linux & AIX Day-to-day support for  Oracle 19c ERP Database environment.UNIX-related network troubleshootingmultipathing, LVM, and ASM Disk managementLiaising with relevant support teams to ensure they are informed about relevant progress and issues relating to Unix servers.Significant experience in Automation tools like Ansible/Scripting to automate the day 2 day Linux tasks.Good troubleshooting skillsmonitor the system performance and ensure compliance with the security standards.Hands-on experience with Linux servers in virtualized environmentsStrong grasp of configuration management tools, such as Delinia Centrify.Relevant hands-on experience in DR recovery Exercises.Experience in preparing the documentation for SOP  and process.Have worked in a VMware virtualization environment.Provision of the Linux VMs in the Vmware virtual environment as per the project requirement.Manage systems and network security to meet best practices and allow appropriate access without adding additional riskCapacity planning and managementExposure to VirtualizationHandling Data Center Operations with Business & Mission Critical applicationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Worked on VM  data stores and SAN storage & Backup Infrastructure. Hands-on experience in ASM creation on Linux & AIX  servers.Prepare the SOP documentation for Unix servers.Designing and implementing Physical/VM server build, RAID configuration, and OS Installation.Develop and update the documentation of systems architecture with network connectivity.Crosstrain infrastructure team members in areas of expertiseWork with systems and infrastructure manager and team to develop and implement infrastructure policies and procedures.Responsible for internal communication of critical systems informationDevelop, maintain, and document Linux & AIX and infrastructure installation and configuration procedures

What we are looking for :

Passion for continual improvement7 -10 years of Red Hat Linux & AIX Systems Administration and Engineering experience.7yrs relevant experience in Linux & AIX system administration.Sharp analytic and troubleshooting abilities.Proven Linux & AIX systems architecture and design skillsExperience working with production multi-tier applications in highly available environments.Knowledge and understanding of systems and network security engineering and best practice.Experience with common networking protocols and services including TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SSH, FTP, SNMP, NTP, and LDAPKnowledge of Oracle database systems infrastructure support and basic database systems supportExperience OS patching, upgrading servers, monitoring, and maintenance.Automation tools like Ansible /scripting or others to automate the day-to-day tasksContributes to process improvements.

Preferred Skills

Strong experience in Linux & AIX server architecture and best practices, particularly in remote data center environmentRequires in-depth knowledge and experience in Linux & AIX System Administration.Experience with performance troubleshooting on Linux & AIX IBM servers and critical call management.Thorough understanding of Vcenter /Esxi, ILO console, etc.Experience with AIX forklifts, migration, Patching, and Linux OS upgradesExposure to Ansible AutomationUnderstanding of storage and SAN technologiesEsxi/VMware knowledge is a “must-have.”Beyond the day-to-day, the team contributes to longer-term technical projects, IT infrastructure efforts, automation, and IT process improvements​.
