Provides expert content/professional leadership on complex Automation Engineering assignments/projects. Provides expertise in the engineering, design, installation and start-up of automated systems. Designs automated systems with moderate complexity and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs. Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff on all phases of engineering, design, installation, and start-up. Works closely with client and IT management and staff to identify automated solutions, new or modified systems, reuse of existing machinery/equipment, or integration of purchased solutions or a combination of the available alternatives. Researches and evaluates alternatives and recommends the most efficient and cost effective automated solutions. Documents, tests, implements and provides on-going support for systems. Exercises considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives. Uses deep professional knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders. Focuses on providing thought leadership within Automation Engineering but works on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business. Recognized internally as a subject matter expert.
Roles and Responsibilities for Storage Automation Engineer Role
Develop scripts, tools or methodologies to enhance the Storage environment through the use of automation
Design and architect the solution independently as part of a small team
Code new or modified scripts and test effectiveness. Evaluate error messages, modify codes and troubleshoot problems
Creating documents and diagrams for automation code
Being able to act as collaborator with members of the Storage Team and other Cigna GISG and GASG teams
Demonstrate ownership and accountability
Some knowledge of Agile development methodologies preferred
Skills:
Must have experience with Python (minimum 5 years)
Experience with other scripting language, such as PowerShell, JavaScript, VBScript
Knowledge of automation with Ansible and VMWare vRO to improve IT efficiencies
Understanding of RESTful web services as well as other HTTP APIs and SDKs
Ability to quickly gain a working knowledge of languages or environments as needed
Exceptional communication skills and experience interacting with all levels of organization
Comfortable working with source control tools, such as Git and TFS
Comfortable working with heterogeneous enterprise environment including experience with both Windows and Linux
