Injury Management Specialist

The primary purpose of this role is to design, deliver and advise on appropriate, timely and cost-effective injury management strategies to promote early recovery and durable return to life and work for injured workers. 

 

You'll be responsible for: 

 

Collaborate with claims operations and treatment providers to develop strategies for reducing the human and financial costs to AAL through structured injury management practices, ensuring adherence to relevant legislative requirements.

• Establish and maintain provider management strategies and relationships to enable support to the business and make recommendations regarding contractual arrangements are negotiated for optimal cost and service to AAL and best health outcomes for the injured claimants and the relevant scheme.
• Develop project plans and initiatives, including costs and benefits, to improve scheme liability management, productivity improvement and injury management competencies and provide regular activity / progress reporting as required.
• Implement injury management strategies within the team and business units to ensure the continuous improvement of return to health and work outcomes in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Design and facilitate training sessions to embed strategies processes and ongoing to ensure application of up-to-date injury management legislation, process, procedures and guidelines.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to support team members with managing work-related injuries and conditions
• Build capability by coaching and mentoring teams on injury management methodology to reduce the duration / cost of claims through weekly case conferencing with aligned Case Managers and assist Return to Work Specialists and Team Managers to provide team support and assistance in medical and injury management.

 

 

 

About you:

Extensive case management and injury management experience within a personal injury scheme environment. Victorian Worker’s Compensation Scheme experience will be highly regarded as well as experience within an Allied Health setting Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/ or industry accreditations. Preferably experience and knowledge in decision making surrounding medical and like requests under the Victorian Worker’s Compensation Scheme An ability to build rapport with varying stakeholders including allied health professionals, workers, employers and our internal team members An aptitude for coaching and developing others Excellent communication and time management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast paced, changing environment Experience in interpreting legislation, policy and data
