**Job Description:** **POSITION SUMMARY:** Accurately and efficiently create color matches from sample and substrate only. Assist with procedures, capacity issues, and other tasks. Mix and match custom inks per customer requirements while providing superior reliability and quality. Provide accurate ink data entry and courteous customer service on ink related questions. Cross train in all duties within the department. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Color match new formulas. Create or modify color match formulas from scratch based only on a color sample and substrate. + Mix and adjust custom color ink per customer requirements or existing formulas. + Solve ink related issues when customers are in-house for test printing. Make modifications as necessary to ensure successful trials. + Assist with maintaining optimum ink stock for custom colors and color matching. + Properly package custom inks and related products, including labeling and storage. + Assist internal (or external if requested by sales force) customers with ink-related issues or questions. + Participate in vendor seminars or other schooling if applicable to keep current with related new industry techniques or products. + Assist in determining department capacity as requested. + Print accurate labels per work order instructions and complete related log sheets and computer entry. + Review and inquire against work orders, enter ink transfers, and accurately close work orders in computer. + Train new associates or cross-train other associates in procedures, accurate ink mixing, color matching and cell duties. + Perform regular housekeeping including maintaining mixing equipment, organizing and cleaning ink room, and work area. + Perform proper disposal of hazardous materials. + Assist with developing cell procedures as necessary. + Cross train in cell for other duties as requested and proper operating procedures. + Cross train in other consumables departments and assist those departments as capacity needs arise. + Other duties as assigned. **POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:** **Education:** High School, a trade school degree in a related area preferred, or demonstrated experience. **Experience/Skills:** + Must be able to accurately color match from substrate. + Chemistry or Graphics Arts education desired. + Basic PC skills including Windows and e-mail experience. + Ability to develop accurate procedures and train others is a plus. + Good communication skills to work with customers. + Basic mathematical skills + Basic computer skills, including using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. + A minimum of 1-year previous work experience in manufacturing, or equivalent field experience + Familiarity with computer applications + Good communication skills required to follow direction and work in a team + Good verbal communication skills - ability to call and speak with a customer or supplier + Ability to read and understand English **OTHER REEQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS:** **Physical/Visual Activities or Demands:** Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. + Daily requirement to visually match variety of colors to customer samples or formulas. + Must have visual acuity with colors + Use and accurately read viscometers and spectrophotometers. + Stand for regular periods of time. Frequently required to operate equipment, stand, walk, kneel, lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs., bend and climb while performing duties. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention to read and prepare documents. + Required to occasionally use hand tools. + Able to tolerate the smell of ink and associated solvents. **Mental Requirements:** Frequently required to match colors in short time frame. Required to regularly communicate verbally and by e-mail. Regularly required to use computer. Regularly required to evaluate and organize inventory placement. Regularly required to count and use basic math skills.
