Inpatient Nurse Manager (NICU)
Overview Provides leadership and management to inpatient departments. Collaborates with the Tahlequah Campus Nurse Manager, Senior Director of Nursing, and the Medical Directors to provide leadership, direction, organization, and general management of all aspects of patient care and departmental functions. Ensures availability for emergencies in person, electronically, by phone, or by a qualified delegate 24 hours a day. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a 4-year college or university; no substitutions. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least four (4) years of experience in a related field. Prefer three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should know Database software, Department Software, Internet Software, Human Resource Software, Payroll systems, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must possess and maintain a license as a Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, or a multi-state license accepted by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, no substitutions. Must maintain license throughout employment. Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation. Must be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, ACLS certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. All Departments, except for the Obstetrical Department, must be certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and maintained throughout employment. If not certified, PALS certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Obstetrical Department – Must be certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation. Must be certified in the National Institutes of Health and Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, NIHSS must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. REQUIREMENTS FOR DEPARTMENTS: (If not certified at the date of hire, must be obtained within six (6) months of hire and maintained throughout employment unless otherwise specified.) Medical-Surgical Department: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Supports (PALS) National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Emergency Department: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Supports (PALS) National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – within twelve (12) months of hire. Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) – within twelve (12) months of hire. Triage Competency (minimum of six (6) months Emergency Department (ED) experience before performing triage) Obstetrical Department: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – within orientation period. Basic/Advanced Fetal Monitoring and Interpretations – within twelve (12) months of hire. Perinatal Education Program (PCEP) RECOMMENDED: Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support (STABLE) Intensive Care Unit: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Supports (PALS) National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Electrocardiogram (ECG) Interpretation Dysrhythmia Course – within six (6) months of hire and then maintained annually. Surgical Services: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Supports (PALS) National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Interventional Radiology: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Supports (PALS) National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Dysrhythmia Course – within six (6) months of hire and then maintained annually. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times and protects all personal health information as it relates to patient data. Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
