Inpatient Nurse Supervisor (Surgical Services)

Overview Works under the guidance of the Inpatient Nurse Manager assisting with leadership, direction, and technical expertise in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of delivery of nursing services twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week in order to maintain continuity of comprehensive care. Collaborates with the Inpatient Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator, and other appropriate disciplines to assist with education of staff and patients. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Has completed the basic professional curricula of a state board-approved registered nursing education program conducted in a member board jurisdiction that meets the requirements of the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Three (3) years of clinical experience. Experience in an inpatient setting preferred. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a license as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or possess a multistate RN license accepted by the OBN, no substitutions. Must maintain license throughout employment. Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation. Must be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, ACLS certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. All Departments, except the Obstetrical Department, must be certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, PALS certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Obstetrical Department – Must be certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation. Must be certified in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, NIHSS must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. The applicant/employee must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. REQUIREMENTS FOR DEPARTMENTS: (If not certified at date of hire, must be obtained within six (6) months of hire and maintained throughout employment unless otherwise specified) Surgical Services: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES None listed. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. Educated and compliant with HIPAA regulations and maintains strict confidentiality of patient information. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
