Longitudinal development includes:First summer: inpatient pharmacy technician responsibilities by providing technical assistance in processing, preparing, and delivering medications and suppliesSecond summer: expansion of inpatient pharmacy technical skills and development with Investigational Drug Services or patient interaction in Medication HistoryInternship frequency:Year-round staffing:Two 8-hour shifts every other weekendApproximately 3 holidays per year for duration of internshipSchoolyear staffing: during P3 year only, one additional 4-hour weeknight shift per week requiredSummer staffing: up to full time work completing technical or clinical activities depending upon departmental needsJob SummaryUnder the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, formulates, prepares, and delivers medications and pharmaceutical supplies. Exercises professional judgment in the interpretation of orders. Trained in medication reconciliation duties and pharmacy technician skills. Works with multiple medication automation systems.Essential FunctionsInterprets physician’s orders checking for correct dose, drug, route, rate and frequency of administration. Reviews patient profile for allergies, duplication of drugs and drug interactions and accurately enters orders into computer under the supervision of a pharmacist.Aseptically reconstitutes, filters, prepares and labels parenteral, sterile products, and chemotherapy, and dispenses other medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.Maintains documentation and record keeping.Participates in patient care activities such as drug use monitoring, pharmacokinetics dosing service and nutritional support services.Provides drug information to physicians, nurses, and other members of the team in collaboration with a pharmacist.Participates in special projects, such as data entry or research.Completes all Spectrum Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.QualificationsRequired Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Enrolled in accredited PharmD programPrevious hospital pharmacy experience PreferredLIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan requiredHow Corewell Health cares for youComprehensive benefits package to meet your financial, health, and work/life balance goals.
