Tufts Medical Center is seeking a full time Adult Psychiatrist to provide inpatient services at Tewksbury Hospital in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Tewksbury State Hospital is a unique psychiatric setting which consists of long-term, inpatient psychiatric care primarily for individuals involved in the legal system. Most of our patients arrive directly from court or jail when they require treatment prior to working through legal charges. Our team treats a patient’s mental illness while the patient undergoes court-ordered evaluations which are conducted by a forensic evaluation team. We work together closely with forensic evaluators to determine the best pathway for the patient to work through their criminal cases while obtaining the appropriate psychiatric care. This role focuses on performing health assessments, running diagnostic tests, prescribing medication and creating treatment plans as well as providing health and wellness education to patients.

Who you are:
Possess an MD, or equivalent, and eligible to obtain a medical license in the State of Massachusetts
BC/BE in Psychiatry
Excellent communication skills to interact with clinicians, administrators, and department staff
