INPATIENT REHAB COORDINATOR

The primary purpose of the IRF/PA Assessment Coordinator is to complete the IRF/PAI in a timely manner and submit IRF/PAI data for billing and quality reporting purposes. This role also has oversight for the coordination of care as it relates to discharge planning and meeting discharge readiness.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

Completes IRF/PAI accurately and timely manner as specified by CMS.

 

Submit IRF/PAI per CMS required schedule.

 

Communicates with the billing office needed billing information and other billing inquiries.

 

Completes ongoing insurance reviews with all payers.

 

Works with the IDT, Medical and nursing teams on denials and reviews for extension of stay.

 

Works collaboratively on appeals with all involved disciplines.

 

Participates in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Projects.

 

Consistently demonstrates a knowledge of IRF guidelines.

 

Participates in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings.

 

Serves as a reference person for the unit.

 

Participates in the development and implementation of in-service training for the Rehab Center.

 

Excellent communication skills necessary for success in this role.

 

Monitors the 60 % rule and reports changes or risk to the leadership team.

 

 

Job Requirements

  Graduate of approved school of professional nursing. Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse. Certification as CRRN preferred. If not certified obtain certification within third year of assuming role. Recent knowledge of the IRF/PAI or recent knowledge of  0ther like CMS assessment  documents . Inpatient Medical Rehab experience also a plus.
