Senior level ISP / OSP technician responsible for providing the full range of ISP / OSP installation, operations, and maintenance of the A6 Forward cable requirements. Considered a SME in all facets of ISP / OSP requirements. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: Provide I/O cable plant support for the day-to-day technical operations of the I/O infrastructure as well as the installation, testing, removal, operation, and maintenance of aerial, underground, and buried multipurpose communications cable to include copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cable. Comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for I/O-related safety issues and the Air Force Office of Safety and Health standard and local squadron instructions. I/O cable plant tasks shall include: Install and work in confined spaces and conduit ducting systems. Install, pull, and test fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cabling. Terminate, splice, test, maintain, and repair fiber optic (including fusion splicing), copper, and coaxial cabling. Install interior premise wiring and fiber, copper, and coaxial cabling. Install fiber optic modems, multiplex equipment, patch panels, main and intermediate distribution frames, lightning protection, and supporting ground and power connections. Install cabinets, cable ladder and rack systems, and equipment components in cabinet. Operate heavy equipment to include cable reel trucks, trenchers, backhoes, chiselers, bobcat, and 20k all-terrain forklift. Provide access to buried communication cable and digging and/or chiseling trenches. Locate cables and provide inputs to digging permits as required. Install separate red and black interior signal cable distribution systems, exterior and interior coaxial cable systems, and supporting equipment to interface tactical and commercial cabling systems. Supply, operate, and maintain equipment required to support I/O cable plant infrastructure as stated in the individual Task Order (TO). May be required to provide heavy equipment leasing to support I/O cabling tasks as specified in the TO. Material & Equipment Directly Used: Equipment and software supported includes, but is not limited to, the following: Cable analyzer/Fluke DTX1800 with Fiber Optic Modules or equivalent power meter Optical Time Domain Reflectometer or equivalent Multi-meter Fiber optic splicing machine – Fujikura 50S/60S Cable reel trucks and trailers Backhoes, chippers, and trenchers Software - AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, VISIO, ArcGIS, Google Earth Standard manhole gas detector – i.e., IBird-MX6 Cable locator Working Environment: Working environment will be 60% indoor, 35% outside, and 5% in manholes and handholds. Some maintenance will expose you to insulation, extreme heat, water, and heights. The outside work environment will also be very hot due to conditions within the region. Physical Activities: Must be able to lift/push/pull 40 lbs. unassisted. Qualifications Education / Certifications: High School Diploma or GED U.S. Citizen Active Secret Tier 3 (or higher) Security Clearance Experience / Skills: Lead-level practical experience in: installation of ducts and conduits; pulling cables and terminating, testing, splicing, and repairing interior and outside copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling; installation of fiber optic modems, fiber multiplex equipment, fiber patch panels, analog and digital copper patch panels, main and intermediate distribution frames; installation of lightning protection and supporting ground and power connections; installation of cabinets, cable ladder and rack systems, and equipment components in the cabinets; AND Experience with the operation of heavy equipment such as: track excavator-changeable scoop/hydraulic jackhammer, standard backhoe, bobcat, cable reel truck, and 20K all-terrain forklift.
