ABOUT US
The State of CT DCP's mission is to ensure a fair and equitable marketplace, safe products and services for consumers in the industries that we license, regulate and enforce. The Department has several divisions and operational groups, each with its own area of expertise including Education and Outreach, Communications, Legislative and Policy, Legal, Drug Control, Foods and Standards, License Services, Investigations, Gaming, Liquor Control, Occupational & Professional Licensing and Operations.
WHO WE ARE
The Investigations Division protects the public from unfair or deceptive business practices, fraud, and scams that affect the Connecticut marketplace, including those sometimes associated with home improvement, homemaker companion agencies and real estate sales. The Division enforces the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA) and helps to mediate disputes between buyers and sellers.
POSITION DETAILS
+ Perform basic technical duties in support of the division's units;
+ Deal with the public, other agencies, jurisdictions, or private organizations in regulatory work;
+ May conduct field inspections;
+ Assist inspectors and investigators with cases for investigation;
+ Write reports on findings;
+ Perform related duties as required.

+ Full-time (An average scheduled work week will be 40 hours.)

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency this class is accountable for performing a full range of basic technical inspection or regulatory work.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
+ Performs basic technical duties of field inspection;
+ Deals with the public, other agencies, jurisdictions, or private organizations in regulatory work such as agriculture, consumer protection, environmental, food services, legalized gambling, motor vehicle, public safety, and weights and measures;
+ Makes field inspections;
+ Assists inspectors with cases for investigation;
+ Takes samples of the premises, products, vehicles, etc.;
+ Writes reports on findings;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience performing assigned tasks without supervision
+ Experience performing internet research using analytical techniques
+ Experience writing reports
+ Experience with Microsoft office suite, including Excel workbooks
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
A complete physical examination may be required prior to employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents in this class may occasionally be exposed to moderately disagreeable job conditions.
