This role supports the Mechanical Design & Quality Expertise Group in executing capital investment projects and providing technical expertise to Sites across North America.  We are looking for a Senior professional like you to perform and/or coordinate quality control and vendor surveillance inspections to ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state and local inspection and testing requirements for mechanical equipment.

Reviewing and approving mechanical equipment drawings, welding specifications / qualifications, non-destructive examination procedures to ensure compliance to the ASME code, industry standards, and BASF Technical Rules.Providing welding and testing expertise for repairs and modifications to existing fabricated equipment and process piping.Auditing Suppliers to verify compliance with industrial codes and BASF Technical RulesWitnessing Supplier qualifications for welding of special joints (e.g., tube-to-tubesheet or half-pipe jacket welds) and welding of high alloys and exotic metals.Performing or coordinating inspection services for new equipment with engineering partners or third-party providers based on the selected project execution model Monitoring inspection activities, ensuring non-conformances are promptly reported and root causes determined for corrective action preventing reoccurrence.If you...

 

Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of experience, or Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology with 7 years or experience or 10 years of relevant work experience involving welding and the execution and/or coordination of quality inspections and non-destructive examination of engineered equipment and machinery.Have a API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector certification is required.  API 570 Piping Inspector, API 653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector certifications as well as AWS-CWI certification are preferred.  Possess experience in the fabrication and welding of duplex and high-nickel alloy materials.Are able to use sound judgment in accepting or rejecting non-conformances / deficiencies and to evaluate proposed corrective action plans from manufacturers as well as being able to interpret and verify requirements of construction codes, corporate and industrial standards and technical specifications for engineered equipment and machinery.Are able to prepare comprehensive inspection reports and review technical documents with strong attention to detail.Have excellent communication and conflict resolution skills while interacting in a team environment to contribute to the development and execution of successful projects.Create your own chemistry with you@BASF
