Summary About the Position: Serves as a Deputy Inspector General within the 11th Airborne Division Inspector General Office. Provides the Commander a continuing assessment of operational and administrative effectiveness of the Command. With the Command IG and other IG staff members, provides the full range of IG functions to all Division personnel. Participates jointly with the Command IG including the development of overall policies, plans, requirements, and direction. Responsibilities Supervises Department of the Army Soldiers and Civilians who perform IG functions of inspections, investigations/ inquiry, and teaching and training. Conducts the planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, and executing the inspection, inquiry, or visit. Reviews previous inspection or audit reports, applicable rules, regulations, procedures and policy statements, mission and organizational materials concerning functions to be inspected and related areas. Develops an inspection plan outlining objectives, general approaches, and time frames. Receives and analyzes incoming complaints and determines urgency/ priority and the proper course of action. Provides guidance to staff members in conducting investigations, inquiries, and assistance reviews. Develops investigations/ inquiry plans for an identified problem or stated allegation; states evidence and data required; determines witnesses to be interviewed; evaluates testimony and other supporting documentation. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing investigations/inquiry plans for an identified problem or stated allegation; conducting fact-finding investigations to protect the best interests of an agency or individual; and preparing inspection reports related to non-compliance of directive with recommendations for corrective action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection Information Management Inspection Management Investigative Analysis Research Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job there is no education substitution for experience, you must qualify based on specialized experience. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
