The Senior Inspector I is responsible for certifying cargo containers for assigned clients, requiring thorough knowledge of ABS Rules for cargo container certification. This role involves understanding and applying container certification procedures and effectively presenting technical information to clients.

What You Will Do:

Perform the inspection per ABS Rules for certification of cargo containers, International Regulations, and Industry Standards. Supervise the inspection in accordance with the ABS Rules; the International Convention; the International Standards and the Regulations for container certification etc. Responsible for cargo containers certification and/or on behalf of owner representative inspection of cargo containers in accordance with ABS Rules for certification of cargo containers, International Regulations, and Industry Standards. Cargo Containers Certification including quality assurance system auditing, material inspection, welding qualification and inspection, in-process inspection, test witness. Advance with the procedures of container certification. Developing the procedures for certification of cargo containers, tank containers, MEGCs and the offshore containers. Identify new business opportunities within current clients’ base. Answer customer questions and work with client to identify areas to expand current scope of work. Interpret data from the inspection and report the results to the manager in charge. Maintains survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in area of responsibility. Work with client to identify areas to expand current scope of work. Promote a culture of safety and safe working conditions.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Must have a High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher level education  5 years of experience in an appropriate technical discipline and/or industry as an inspector

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good knowledge of ABS Rules for certification of cargo containers. Solid understanding of industry specifications, blueprints, codes, and standards. Ability to interpret received data and match against set standards. Good communication skills with emphasis on writing technical reports. Knowledge of welding technology. Knowledge of heavy industry equipment and components such as the test equipment, container components. Working knowledge of the ABS Surveyor Reporting System, ABS ETQ System, ABS Health & Safety Incident Management (HSIM) System and able to guide other inspectors.  Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.
