What You Will DoAs an Installation Manager, you will lead the successful deployment of Grid Structures or Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) within automated partner facilities such as Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs), Distribution Centres (DCs), and warehouses.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage installations to meet project cost, quality, safety, and schedule targets Supervise external contractors delivering major work packages (typically 6–14 month timelines) Conduct onsite quality checks, including working at height (up to approx. 8m) Support project planning and phasing Identify and resolve technical installation issues, escalating as needed Mentor and support newer team members Promote and enforce safe working practice Contribute to health and safety documentation (e.g., risk assessments, safe systems of work) Collaborate with Supply Chain teams and other departments to ensure effective contractor selection and readiness Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of delivery methods Build strong working relationships with contractors, internal teams, and partner stakeholders Skills & Experience: Proficient in interpreting technical and electrical drawing Experience in mechanical installation (e.g., structural steel, racking systems, automation, or conveyors) Skilled in communicating technical topics to various stakeholders Experience coordinating and supervising contractors onsiteQualifications:
An engineering background, or degree or equivalent experience Experience of mechanical installation of structural steel, or pallet racking and/or ASRS systems. Experience in managing the installation and commissioning of Automation equipment or Conveyor systems. Relevant site safety certifications for national/local HSE compliance Trained in low-voltage electrical lockout/tagout procedures and risk assessments Familiarity with high-risk activities (e.g., working at height, lifting operations) Understanding of construction/engineering safety regulations and contract managementPhysical Activities:
Navigating active construction or installation sites, including confined or elevated areas Prolonged standing, walking, or sitting Communicating with teams, contractors, and stakeholders
Environmental Conditions:
