Institutional Research Analyst
Job Title Institutional Research Analyst Agency Texas A&M University - San Antonio Department Office Of The Associate Provost Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location San Antonio, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Under general supervision, this position is responsible for supporting the University's Institutional Effectiveness planning and reporting efforts used to assure quality programs and services. Responsibilities: + Primary duties include documenting all project processes, sources, and techniques to ensure consistent application of methodology in future projects; contributing to ongoing efforts in data quality; translating report requirements into specifications and using SQL (Structured Query Language) or other programming languages to generate data extracts, tables, and reports appropriate for the identified need; anticipating and representing end-user needs; proposing analytic reports to answer strategic, tactical, structured or unstructured business questions. + Analyzes data, prepares statistical reports, and interpret results using appropriate software. + Responds to and supports internal research requests from faculty, staff, and students. + Collects, verifies, analyzes, and presents statistical data in response to external requests. + Compiles, maintains, and secures institutional databases, download data from institutional resources (Banner, COGNOS, and others). + Formats data for analysis and reporting. + Represents the Office of Institutional Research on committees, and by providing training and technical support for faculty and staff. + Supports the Office of Institutional Research by assisting with IPEDS, CBM, LBB, System and other mandatory reporting. + Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Social Sciences, or related field with emphasis on database management. + Two years of directly related work experience, including statistical research, query writing, and database programming, administration and maintenance. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: + Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. + Knowledge of methods and equipment used in electronic data processing, including system analyses, design, and computer programming techniques. + Excellent customer services and analytical skills. + Ability to work in a team environment. + Strong oral and written communication skills. + Proficiency with Excel, Access, SQL Server, Oracle SQL. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. + Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
