The LA SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking applicants for an
INSTRUCTIONAL COACH
This position is located in BATON ROUGE, LA at the Louisiana School for the Deaf.
This is an 11 month/8 hour a day position.
The Instructional Coach’s primary purpose is to provide leadership to classroom teachers to improve academic achievement and behavior of all students. The Instructional Coach will increase the staff’s capacity to effectively implement identified core universal practices by providing staff with ongoing professional development. This position will serve as the curriculum expert formath and science.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Louisiana Teacher certification as set forth in Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel (Bulletin 746) including Deaf education endorsement. Must acquire certification within three years of hire date.
+ Instructional Coach Certification. Must acquire Instructional Coach certification within three years of hire date.
+ A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience and/or professional experience.
+ Special Education experience preferred.
+ Flexibility and creativity in approaches to teaching/learning.
+ Willingness to work in a team environment.
+ Knowledge of the state content standards and assessment process.

+ Implement school system policies and align instructional coaching with the school’s philosophy and goals.
+ Exhibit knowledge of special education rules and regulations, particularly those relevant to state and federal laws affecting Deaf education.
+ Demonstrate understanding of diverse learners, particularly Deaf students, and their unique linguistic and academic needs.
+ Support teachers in implementing high-quality, standards-based instruction through coaching cycles, modeling, and observation-based feedback.
+ Lead data-driven instructional planning by supporting teachers in analyzing student performance data to inform curriculum decisions and instructional strategies.
+ Plan and facilitate professional learning community team meetings (PLTs) and instructional leadership team (ILT) meetings focused on improving teaching and learning.
+ Coordinate and deliver professional development aligned with school and district instructional goals, emphasizing best practices in literacy, content-area instruction, and assessment.
+ Support the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment across grade levels to ensure vertical coherence.
+ Assist teachers in unpacking standards, developing pacing guides, and refining lesson plans to maximize student learning outcomes.
+ Promote evidence-based instructional practices and provide ongoing support to ensure fidelity of implementation.
+ Collaborate with school and district leaders to identify instructional priorities and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
+ Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with legal and professional standards.
+ Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and community stakeholders to foster a culture of collaboration and high expectations.
+ Serve as the curriculum expert for math and science.
+ Updating database and ensuring it represents the current status and location of curriculum materials.
+ Support STEM initiatives (e.g. support educational technology specialist with STEM projects, support STEM/robotics clubs) during applicable classes, club times, and elective times.
Instructional Leadership Responsibilities
+ Lead coaching cycles with teachers, providing individualized support through observation, modeling, and constructive feedback to improve instructional effectiveness.
+ Facilitate professional learning on research-based instructional strategies, differentiation, and culturally responsive teaching for Deaf learners.
+ Work closely with teachers to implement and refine curriculum materials that align with state standards and the unique needs of Deaf students.
+ Guide teachers in utilizing data to drive instructional decisions and improve student outcomes through collaborative data meetings.
+ Support teachers in developing rigorous and engaging lesson plans that incorporate language-rich, student-centered instruction.
+ Provide guidance on classroom management and instructional strategies that support positive student engagement and behavior.
+ Assist in organizing and leading ILT meetings, ensuring a focus on instructional improvement and teacher development.
+ Foster a reflective teaching culture by encouraging self-assessment, goal-setting, and continuous professional growth among educators.
+ Serve as a resource for instructional technology integration to enhance teaching and student learning as it relates to the curriculum.
+ Stay current on best practices in Deaf education and instructional methodologies, ensuring staff has access to the latest research and tools.
+ Participate in school-sponsored activities that support a strong school culture and learning community.
