Instructional Designer

Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer (ID) creates learning environments and experiences for iQor’s workforce, including both frontline and salaried employees. The ID will enable learning by consulting with subject experts to design, develop, manage, and evaluate processes and resources for learning. The ID will be tasked with redesigning courses, developing entire courses or curriculums, and creating training materials such as trainer manuals and student guides. The ID will report to the Director of Active Learning Design and Development.


Responsibilities:

Work closely with business clients, project stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify training needs, analyze/scope a target curriculum, and design/develop appropriate strategies for meeting those needsDesign, develop, and author appropriate business process and systems training programs including instructor-led/ asynchronous and blended e-learning coursesInterview subject matter experts to collect necessary data, raw content and custom information necessary to design training programs and define desired learning outcomesDesign courseware that enables the student to achieve the stated outcomes, including appropriate assessment of student achievement mapped to learning outcomes and Bloom’s taxonomyDesign, develop, revise, and document custom training materials including online modules, course descriptions, manuals, quick reference guides, presentations, job aids, and printed training guides.Research and apply best practices and approaches of presenting and delivering training materials to adult learnersProvide detailed quality assurance for e-learning courses prior to deployment and continuous improvement monitoring and support after courses have been deployedCommunicate effectively and frequently with various project collaborators to ensure that goals and objectives are being fulfilledCollaborate regularly with communications and training delivery teamCollaborate with other consultants and staff members on projectsWork with identified media teams to execute any course media objects (graphics, video, animation)Shows understanding of client needs and available budget, builds and maintains good relations with stakeholders, and applies effective consulting skills to manage projectEnsures the overall project quality and success


Skills Requirements:

Knowledge of and deep experience in adult learning theory and current educational methodologies, especially social constructivist and related approaches (including problem-based learning, goal-based scenarios, situated learning, cognitive apprenticeship)Demonstrated and thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art e-learning platforms, use of the Web as an instructional tool, multimedia course development, course authoring tools, and instructional technologiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills—especially listening skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and presentation skillsFive to seven years training instructional design/development/delivery experience with significant experience managing, coordinating, and resolving complex issuesSelf-directed, lifelong learner who can take initiative to define issues and the resources needed to bring resolution


Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design and Development, or related work experience


Physical Requirements:

Occasionally exert up to 10 lbs. of force to push, pull, lift or otherwise move objects. Have visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data; and/or viewing a computer terminal. Type and/or sit for extended periods of time. Consistent attendance is an essential function of the job.
