Position Description:
Instructional Designers design, develop, and implement educational and learning materials for online and classroom settings to support Hensel Phelps learning objectives.
Position Qualifications:
Degree in the field of Instructional Design, Communication, Education, or related field. Minimum 5 years prior experience in the field of instructional design. Valid Driver’s License. Experience developing storyboards, job aids, online tutorials, assessments, and print-based materials. Visual/graphic design skills a must (e.g., images and graphics which both support and enhance learning content). Possess broad range of knowledge in the area of instructional technology applications. Audio and video creation and editing experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Adobe Creative Suite applications. Knowledge of adult learning principles and theory. Ability to work with staff at all levels of an organization, from entry-level to executive. Project management skills including planning, scheduling, time management, and managing multiple tasks/projects at a time. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing, incorporating good listening skills. Self-directed and able to work independently. Passion for learning and development. Expertise and experience in designing and developing content concentrated on leadership and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Video creation and editing experience.
Essential Duties:
Collaborate effectively across functional teams, including Corporate office, Regional offices and jobsite staff, to execute strategies and plans that promote the Company’s overall strategic learning initiatives. Develop innovative solutions to problems through training and advanced use of technology. Remain up-to-date with emerging technologies that enhance learning. Test and learn new technologies quickly and autonomously. Coordinate with subject matter experts to design and develop quality learning content, performance support aids, practice tests, online tutorials, and other materials needed to meet identified needs; this includes eLearning, webinar and traditional instructor-led training. Recommend changes to existing courses, including delivery format and instructional methods to increase learner outcomes. Video editing and production. Assist with seminars and large Corporate trainings/meetings. Organize and manage learning content, using mobile training applications and an internal learning platform. Provide a consistent standard of training, by ensuring a strong focus on quality control and set standards of excellence through consistent SOPs across the entire company to avoid operational differences between regional offices.
