This job is a team member of Ochsner Leadership Institute (OLI). This job support the company’s strategic initiatives by partnering with team members, Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) and Operational leaders throughout the system to create and develop system-wide programs. The organization has a fast-moving and continually-changing environment, which will require commitment to excellence and the ability to manage ambiguity. Responsible for developing OLI learning solutions that are fundamental to OLI’s initiatives such as, Leadership and Career Development and Professional Development programs. Development programs may include instructor-led classes, virtual instructor-led classes, workshops, self-paced online training, book clubs, and corresponding performance and learning support materials. Other key work activities will include facilitating classes and training the trainers.

Education

Required – Bachelor’s degree

Work Experience

Required – 2 years of experience in Instructional Design and/or relevant work experience in a corporate training environment.

Preferred – Experience working with the following:

     Authoring software: Adobe Systems Adobe Captivate or Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio

     Graphics or photo software: Adobe Creative Cloud; Adobe Illustrator; Adobe Photoshop; Adobe InDesign

     Video creation and editing software: Adobe Premier; TechSmith Camtasia

     Music or sound editing software: Audacity; Adobe Audition

     Presentation software: Microsoft PowerPoint

     Computer-based training software: SABA; Blackboard Learn; Moodle

     Network conferencing software: Webinar software; Adobe Connect; Microsoft Office SharePoint

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages. Ability to utilize knowledge of learning theories, learning systems design, and principals of multimedia learning to design and develop meaningful and effective learning solutions Ability to analyze instructional methods and approaches and select evidence-based practices to design and develop learning solutions Ability to interpret the meaning of information and how it can be used to others Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to prioritize and be accountable for assigned work Must be detailed-oriented with exceptional follow-up skills Ability to work well independently as well as within teams with strong collaboration skills Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time Ability to think outside the box and use creativity to help OLI and its mission to meet strategic objectives

Job Duties

Conduct needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for curriculum development or to update curricula. Interview subject matter experts and/or conduct other research to develop instructional content. Design and develop learning solutions and programs for employees for web-based, instructor-led, and blended formats using evidence-based instructional design practices. Design and develop performance and learning support materials such as manuals, guides, course materials, handouts or job aids, including web-based aids or electronic performance support systems. Assess effectiveness and efficiency of instruction according to the relevance of instructional technology use and student learning, knowledge transfer, and satisfaction. Present and facilitate trainings and classes using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures. Observe in-house faculty and provide feedback on instructional techniques, presentation and facilitation methods, or instructional aids. Consult internal customers around learning needs and make recommendations regarding course design, technology, and instructional delivery options. Research and evaluate emerging instructional technologies or methods. Provide analytical support for the design and development of training curricula, learning strategies, educational policies, or courseware standards. Develop master course documentation and/or templates.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Must be able to sit or stand and for prolonged periods of time.

Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity. Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
