The position acts as a lead instructor for field labs and provides classroom and technology-based trainings to meet organization and individual needs. This position works with School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences (SFFGS)faculty and staff in maintaining the Geomatics undergraduate and graduate curriculum and conducts need assessment for new academic offerings (e.g. certificates, degrees) based upon input from the professional community. The ID-III in Geomatics guides prospective students through the admission process and advises current students and program staff in career planning and meeting curriculum requirements necessary for graduation. + The ID-III in Geomatics develops and maintains an office and field equipment inventory related to spatial data collection and analysis and provides related guidance for Geomatics learning and training program. The position coordinates with FLREC IT personnel, SFFGS IT personnel and Geomatics faculty in ensuring that updated software versions are accessible in the FLREC Geomatics computer lab and courseware standards are met. This ID-III in Geomatics conducts a needs assessment for the purchase of geodetic data collection equipment and software needed for teaching and research activities at the FLREC. + The position participates in writing and editing content for program proposals, research and teaching grants, publications, and other program activities and develops strategies to use emerging geospatial technologies for spatial data collection efforts from airborne and terrestrial sensors. the ID-III in Geomatics participates in spatial data collection, analysis, and processing resulting in the generation of maps, 3D models, and other geospatial products. The ID-III trains staff and student employees in data collection and management. + The ID-III in Geomatics develops an outreach (Extension) program aimed at recruiting and training current and potential future surveying/mapping technician in South Florida through development of comprehensive learning and training programs. The position works with Extension Specialists and Geomatics faculty, attends and coordinates meeting with the local surveying societies and GIS professional groups, and assists in knowledge transfer. The position acts as a liaison between the educational community and the professional geospatial community, measures outcomes of outreach and recruitment evens, and is responsible for promotion efforts through social media and other online venues. The position attends statewide meeting as required which may include weekends and evening extension and training activities. Expected Salary: 70,000 - 88,000 based on qualifications Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.
