Instructional Support Specialist - Science (10 Month)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: + Provide regional professional learning in science curriculum, instruction, and assessment + Facilitate targeted, district-based professional learning, including but not limited to: + Modeling effective instructional practices in classrooms + Planning with teachers + Instructional coaching + Presenting effective instructional strategies and how they can be used effectively in classrooms + Support district and building administration in their understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in science and provide regular communication to them. + Assist district staff (across the BT BOCES region) with the administration of NYS science assessments, including the required NYS Investigations. + Access current evidence, research and best practices for instruction and design and deliver professional learning that is consistent with research. + Collaborate with BT BOCES Professional Learning & Innovation Center team, district administrators, and district staff to plan professional learning opportunities. + Support the Regional Center for Science service in collaboration with other members of the BT BOCES Professional Learning & Innovation Center team. + Serve as a liaison to the state education department and state-level content groups as appropriate; support NYSED initiatives via professional learning and communication networks. + Utilize appropriate technology and data in professional learning and assist teachers with the integration of technology into science instruction. Job Qualifications REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + NYS Certified Teacher, Science Certification (any certification Grades 7–12) + Five years classroom teaching experience Preferred Additional Qualifications: + Experience with performance-based learning and project-based learning + Experience administering NYS Science Investigations + Experience with instructional coaching Civil Service Title: Instructional Support Specialist Job Number: 25-201
