INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as an INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS SPECIALIST within CENTER FOR SUBMARINE. Responsibilities YOU WILL HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AND CORRESPONDING SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS. YOU WILL HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF POLICY, ORGANIZATIONS, AND METHODOLOGIES TO BE UTILIZED IN TRAINING DEVELOPMENT; TECHNIQUES AND TOOLS USED TO DESIGN AND DEVELOP TRAINING COURSES AND MATERIALS. YOU WILL REVIEW EFFECTIVENESS OF EXISTING PROGRAMS, REVISE ONGOING PROGRAMS, AND DEVELOP/IMPLEMENT NEW TRAINING. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: APPLIES CONCEPTS, PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES IN INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS DESIGN THEORY, INCLUCING INTEGRATION OF INNOVATIVE TEACHING METHODS SUPPORTED BY TECHNOLOGY AND APPLYING INSTRUCTIONAL AND SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE TO DIFFICULT AND COMPLEX WORK ASSIGNMENTS. ABILITY TO EVALUATE TRAINIGN PROGRAMS AND.OR COMPLETE SPECIAL PROJECTS IN ORDER TO RECOMMEND CHANGES AND MAKE MINOR ADJUSTMENTS IN TRAINING OR METHODS. EVALUATES AND MEASURES STUDENT PROGRESS, PROVIDE COUNSELING AND/OR SPECIAL INSTRUCTION AND DETERMINE ACTION REQUIRED TO RESOLVE MARGINAL STUDENT STATUS. My course work included study in at least four of the five following areas: 1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. 2) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. 3) Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. 4) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. 5) Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
