Job Title Instructional Technician - Humanities Posting Number P003667 Position Type Part-Time Position Status Part Time Grant Funded No Grant Funding Source N/A Category Instructional Support Class Code 53 Starting Pay $18.15 Department NE Communication Arts Job Summary The Instructional Technician is responsible for working with students in laboratory classes, maintaining equipment as well as preparing materials and providing lab setups. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Essential Performance Requirements* Consults with faculty laboratory coordinator to determine equipment purchase priorities based on budget allowances, condition of existing equipment, and scheduled laboratory activities Prepares and puts in place equipment scheduled for use during laboratory teaching sessions Demonstrates care and use of equipment Trains teaching staff and students in application and use of new equipment Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and dismantles and repairs equipment when possible Confers with teaching staff periodically to evaluate new equipment and methods Maintains reference materials used by students Maintains and prepares classrooms, materials and apparatuses commonly used in chemistry and physics laboratories Inventories, orders and checks in materials and supplies and ensures that good safety, housekeeping and security practices are adhered to at all times Assists with registration


Service Excellence Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC) Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
SupervisionWorks under the general supervision of department leadership

Required Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) One (1) year’s working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or an equivalent combination of education and working experience


Preferred Qualifications 1 (one) year’s experience utilizing web design (e.g., HTML) 1 (one) year’s experience utilizing the Adobe Create Cloud suite (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to assist students and users in a laboratory setting and to work with faculty and staff in planning, organizing, and maintaining the laboratory for the benefit of all Skilled in strong organizational skills Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships Skilled using computerized applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
