Instructional Technologist - AIU Online

Reporting to the Director of Faculty Development and Support the Instructional Technologist role is focused on enhancing educational experiences through the use of technology. The role primarily involves collaborating with educational staff to design and implement digital learning tools and environments that support the AIUS curriculum.

Principal Duties Responsibilities

Collaborate with subject matter experts and the AIUS instructional designers to design and develop effective digital learning environments and resources.Assist in conducting user acceptance testing and monthly updates for learning management systems (LMS).Provide technical support and training to faculty on the use of instructional technology tools.Evaluate and recommend new technologies that support educational objectives and enhance user engagement.Develop multimedia learning materials, such as video tutorials, interactive modules, and digital graphics.Conduct research on current trends in educational technology and distance education to ensure the adoption of best practices.Develop reports and maintain records on technology usage, user satisfaction, and the impact of technologies on learning outcomes.Lead pilot programs for testing new technologies before wide-scale implementation, evaluating their effectiveness and providing feedback to vendors.Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with new technologies and pedagogical strategies.Serve on internal committees to help shape policies and procedures related to technology use within AIUS.Work with other departments to support a wide range of projects, such as helping the IT department with deploying new software across AIUS.

Proficiency using the following programs is required:Learning management systems including Brightspace and CanvaseLearning authoring tools including Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and CamtasiaAdobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere ProAccessibility tools to create audio descriptions, video captions, and material compatible with screen readers like JAWS or NVDAOnline collaboration tools such as Zoom and Microsoft TeamsExperience with educational data analytics tools, either integrated within LMS or standalone platforms like Tableau, for analyzing student performance and engagement metrics.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with diverse teams and stakeholders.Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide effective solutions.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fully remote setting.

Education and Experience: Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Media Arts, Digital Media, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Information Systems, Instructional Design, or a related field from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent)At least three years of higher education experience.

Education and Experience: Preferred

Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Media Arts, Digital Media, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Information Systems, Instructional Design, or a related field from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent) preferred
