To support this initiative, we are inviting applications for Instructor or Assistant Professor of Social Work. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing academic program intended to provide a positive impact on East Texas. With funding from the 86th Texas Legislature, Texas A&M University-Texarkana is hoping to attract excellent faculty who will contribute to the best possible future for our service region. Salary Information: The expected rate of pay for this position is $55,000-$68,000 annually ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: + Teaching in the BSW and MSW social work programs, with primary assignment to the MSW program. Teach in generalist and clinical social work classes as needed; curriculum design in alignment with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards ( EPAS ) 2022 and a student-centered pedagogy. + Advise social work majors from our diverse student body and contribute in other ways to the social work program. + Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines + Serve on division, college, and university committees. + Conduct and publish field specific research to enhance the general body of knowledge in social work. Collaborative research with undergraduate and graduate students is encouraged. + Present research findings and other academic papers at national or professional conferences. + Support and participate in social work community activities and professional organizations to develop professional partnerships and meet the institution's strategic goals. + Cultivate and develop working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. + Support all college initiatives to recruit and retain talented students, faculty, and staff. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Minimum Qualifications – Instructor and Assistant Professor Rank + Earned MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution + At least two years of post-master’s social work practice experience + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills + Knowledge of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database capabilities + Ability to work efficiently and effectively with all segments of the student population Minimum Qualifications – Assistant Professor Rank Only + Earned DSW or Ph.D. in social work, social welfare, or closely related field + Evidence of scholarship and research agenda Preferred Qualifications + Candidates that are licensed, or license-eligible, as a social worker in Texas, Arkansas, and/or Louisiana. + Record of teaching excellence in social work or related field + Demonstrated experience in program and curricular development + Clinical experience working with children, trauma, or addictions Other Requirements + Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours + Ability to maintain confidentiality SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL: This position generally does not supervise employees.
