Job Title Instructor - Chemistry Agency Texas A&M University - Texarkana Department College Of Arts, Sciences & Education Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Texarkana, Texas Job Type Faculty Job Description The Instructor will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate general and upper-level chemistry courses such as, but not limited to, General Chemistry I/II, Introduction to Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I/II, and Environmental Chemistry in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE). The successful candidate will also be responsible for addressing student needs in Chemistry. This candidate will also assist Chemistry faculty with teaching courses to fulfill curriculum goals and objectives while supporting the overall mission of the division and College. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Teach assigned lower and upper-level Chemistry courses. + Teach schedules comprised of 15 scholastic credit hours each Fall and Spring term. + May conduct supplemental instructional activities such as independent studies and capstone. REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE Minimum Requirements: + A Master's or PhD degree focused in Chemistry or a closely related Chemistry field before the start date and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges with appropriate academic credentials verified by Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s faculty credentialing processes. + Ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment, within and across disciplines. + Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. + Ability to effectively work with and advise students. + Ability to work with all student populations. + Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, preferably at the college level. + Experience teaching lower division courses utilizing current technologies supporting both face to face and virtual learning environments (i.e., BlendFlex, HyFlex) at the university level. + Able to effectively use different learning management systems (i.e., Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle). Preferred Qualifications + Ability to teach multiple subject areas in chemistry + 1-2 recently published research manuscripts, in the past 5 years + Track record of excellence (or evidence of potential) in teaching (including online) various general chemistry courses. + Familiar with experiential learning practices.
