Position Summary:
The Jewish Studies Program and the Department of Languages, Linguistics and Comparative Literature (LLCL) at Florida Atlantic University seek an Instructor to teach all levels of Hebrew, especially Beginning and Intermediate. The selected candidate may also teach Hebrew and Jewish literatures in translation or related coursework in the Department of Languages, Linguistics or Comparative Literature and/or in the Jewish Studies Program, depending on the candidate’s qualifications. The ideal candidate would have the ability to teach a second language (e.g. Arabic, Spanish, French, Italian) as needed, although it is not required by the position.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate administrator of a State university.Responsible for teaching, service, and related administrative activities.Responsible for program support efforts as needed.May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have at least a Master’s degree and will have completed at least 18 graduate credits in Hebrew or a closely related field by the time of appointment.Preferred Qualifications:
An M.A. or Ph.D. in Hebrew is strongly preferred. Prior experience in Hebrew language instruction at the university level, proficiency in using educational technology and online teaching tools, and experience constructing syllabi and course program development are preferred but not required.

Transcripts:
The selected candidate for this position is required to submit an official transcript sent directly from the institution for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
Background Screening:
