Yes Job Summary The College of Education invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 9-month, fixed-term Instructor of Social Work position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head. Appointment at the Instructor rank is anticipated; however, appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. This is a 9-month fixed-term faculty position, renewable annually. The anticipated position start date isJuly 1, 2025. For best consideration, candidates should apply by December 1, 2024. The position is contingent upon curriculum approval of the BSW and MSW . This position will provide instruction in the new Bachelor of Social Work ( BSW ) program and planned future Master’s of Social Work ( MSW ) program. The BSW is a four-year online Ecampus program requiring the completion of 180 credits. In line with the national accreditor, the Council on Social Work Education ( CSWE ), students in the baccalaureate degree demonstrate 9 competencies through knowledge-based assignments and fieldwork assessments of skills. The baccalaureate degree is a generalist program that prepares undergraduate majors with the basic skills, knowledge, and dispositions to work within entry-level practice positions such as case manager, child welfare specialist, or probation officer. The BSW degree prepares individuals for generalist practice positions (such as casework), where professionals engage with clients (e.g., individuals, families, communities), assess their needs, link them to services, and monitor their progress. Courses are offered via asynchronous and synchronous delivery, such as Canvas recorded lecture content and instructor-led live Zoom meetings. Field placements will occur in the student’s geographic area and will be in-person. The social work programs reside in the Department of Counselor, Adult, and Higher Education at Oregon State University. The mission of the department is to prepare socially just counselors, supervisors, educators, counselor educators, educational leaders, researchers, and advocates. These change agents strive to be anti-racist and anti-oppressive in practice, informed by their knowledge of the structures of power and privilege, and seek to promote equitable access to and alleviate inequities within wellness and education.
