Advertised Job Summary:
The faculty of the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor, to begin August 16, 2025. The position is a 9-month appointment with a teaching load of 8 courses per academic year. This is an annual appointment that may be renewed contingent upon Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.
The successful candidate will teach introductory through advanced Spanish language, four courses per semester, with possible opportunities for designing and teaching culture courses; prepare course syllabi and handouts; evaluate and grade student course work, assignments, and papers; maintain required records including student attendance and grades; maintain regularly scheduled office hours to assist students; and participate in program and departmental meetings and activities, including program building.

Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Candidates must have an MA degree or higher in Spanish in hand by August 15, 2025; two years of experience in higher education teaching Spanish language and culture (elementary through advanced level); native/near-native proficiency in Spanish and English; and demonstrated experience meeting the needs of diverse student populations.
