**40172BR** **Extended Job Title:** Instructor or Higher (Emergency) **Org Level 1:** Texas Tech Unv Hlth Sci Ctr El Paso **Position Description:** Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching and service, some variation by academic unit. **Requisition ID:** 40172BR **Travel Required:** Up to 25% **Major/Essential Functions:** + Provides patient care in the Emergency Department + Participate in the development of curricula for the Tactical Medicine fellowship program and the residency program + Supervises medical EMS fellows, residents, and students + Provides performance evaluations, skill testing, and mentoring of residents, fellows, and medical students + Participates in resident and faculty recruitment + Serves as medical control physician for El Paso EMS while on duty in the Emergency Department + Assists Department Chair with implementation of departmental policies and monitoring staffing effectiveness + Option to serve as Director or Assistant EMS director or equivalent position for local or regional EMS agencies with which the department enters into agreements, upon Department Chair request. + Option to serve as a response physician to local law enforcement agencies + Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship + Participates in medical school and hospital committees + Assists with development and implementation of special departmental projects; conference presentations to residents, students, nurses, and EMTs + Participates in chart audits and other clinical performance improvement efforts. + Attends and participates in morbidity-mortality conference and journal clubs + Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work and emergency medicine professional organizations + Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission + Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L.
