CSMART is currently looking for a Nautical Instructor for 40 hours per week to support the Operations department.
Reporting to the Principal Instructor, this role is primarily responsible to instruct on Training, Continuous Development Courses and any training/events as required by CSMART and in accordance with CSMART quality system.
As a Nautical Instructor, your responsibilities will include:
Instructor:
Liaises with Course Administration, other instructors and Simulator Operators to ensure everything is prepared prior to course starts. Checks status of pre-reading tasks and prepares for feedback. Delivers the course according to CSMART’s course delivery process. Conducts appraisals and course evaluation • Hands out certificates or follows the underperforming participant process. Restores equipment and reports any deficiencies. • Completes and hands in the post course documentation to Course Administration. Facilitate the Operational Excellence course and other courses where facilitation is required.Course Review
Transfers relevant comments from the course evaluations to the course review spreadsheet. Transfers any other relevant comments given during the training to the course review spreadsheet. Suggests improvements to the course on the course review spreadsheet. Highlights any immediate changes needed to the course to the Lead Instructor for the course. Assists in course review amendments to the course.Course Development
Assists Manager Standards & Design in Course DevelopmentProfessional Development
Stays abreast with latest developments in teaching techniques and the use of simulators as a teaching aid. Further studies the subject that is being taught to become a subject matter expert. Stays abreast with latest developments in the subject in regards to new technology, new Carnival procedures and new international regulations. Stays abreast with latest case studies relating to the subject being taught. Understudies other courses at CSMART. Visits a ship bi-annually to stay updated with ship operation with a focus on the subject being taught.Requirements & Experience
At least 5 + years in a nautical/technical/environmental* related field at sea/ashore (*cumulative for ENV). Served as Captain, Port Pilot, Staff Captain with extensive ship handling experience. (Podded vessels experience preferred)Skills (Technical / Language / Personal Skills)
Basic knowledge of computers and networks Software Skills. Knowledge on user-level of Windows 10 and 11 • Proficient in Microsoft 365, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Personal Skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Works well in multi-cultural team environments and on individual assignments. Open, conscious, engaged, agreeable, with a natural passion to develop others. Fluent written and verbal English language.
