Instrument Coach ( I&C Engineer )The ORSU Instruments and Control Engineer will play a vital role in the design review, installation, and integration of instrumentation systems. This position involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to implement I&C solutions that ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience : Candidates should have minimum 15 years of experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Review instrumentation specifications, datasheets, and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) tailored for oil and gas applications.Review and provide inputs during selection of appropriate instrumentation equipment (sensors, transmitters, control valves) based on process requirements and industry standards.Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations (e.g., API, IEC, ANSI) and safety standards.Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, schedules, and deliverables related to instrumentation.Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of instrumentation systems in field environments.Provide technical guidance to project teams, contractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle and into Operations via Start up support and troubleshooting until Plant performance testing (PP1) is accomplished.Participate in hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and safety reviews related to I&C.Proficiency in instrumentation design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation).Review control system architectures, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and other related systems.Attend factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) to ensure systems operate correctly and meet project specifications.Integrate control systems with various plant systems, including machinery, sensors, and databases, ensuring proper communication and functionality.Work closely with automation teams to ensure that control systems interface correctly with manufacturing processes.Analyse control loops, automation processes, and systems to identify opportunities for performance optimization and cost reduction.Recommend improvements to processes, instruments, and control strategies to increase productivity, quality, and efficiency.Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (electrical, process engineering) to ensure the integrated design of systems.Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams on instrumentation and control systems.
