Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking an experienced Instrument and Electrical Technician at our Martinez CA, facility.

Air Products, manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking a high energy, self-starter to fill a full time Instrument and Electrical Technician position. This hourly position primarily supports our 2 Hydrogen Plants in Martinez, California located onsite at the PBF Refinery. The position will be for the Martinez location, but will provide as needed support at 2 other hydrogen plants located nearby in Martinez on refinery sites as well.

Required Skills / Abilities:

Calibrate manufacturing instrumentation according to procedures.Perform routine PMs on manufacturing and building equipment.Trouble shoot PLC equipment.Assist other maintenance techs with assigned tasks.Complete instrument tracking documentation.Complete required safety tasks and activities.Develop procedures for instrument calibrations and preventive maintenance tasks.Support facility operations by completing assigned work orders.Must be willing to work overtime as required, and willing to take 24-hour on call responsibilities.This position requires some travel ~10% as needed to support other HYCO facilities as needed. This is a safety sensitive position.

 
Key Job Responsibilities:

Technicians must be familiar with all equipment in plants served. A sampling of these devices includes transmitters, switches, analyzers, programmable controllers, proximity devices, level control systems, control valves, equipment and personnel safety systems, pay meter systems, and others. Within each category are a variety of pneumatic and electronic devices.Technicians are also responsible for troubleshooting and working with Instrument Engineering Support to maintain distributed control systems. This is a most rapidly changing technical area and requires a high level of technical training.Prepare and provide technical reports and enter information into SAP to provide accurate documentation and information for equipment.This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

 
Minimum Hiring Requirements:

High school diploma/equivalentMinimum five years of experience with calibration and troubleshooting of industrial plant instrumentation and controlsKnowledge of PLC and DCS controls is a plusSupervisory skills/experience a plusBasic computer skillsSAP knowledge is desired

4/10 scheduleOn call responsibility is required

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in an industrial environment which includes climbing ladders and steps in elevated work, get on scaffolding, get on manlift type equipment and wear PPE such as full body harnessMust be able to wear self-contained and air purifying respiratory protectionAble to work in confined spacesAble to lift 50 lbs.Must be clean shavenMust be willing to work at a tobacco-free facility
