Job Title: Instrument Operator

Job Description

Carry out a range of surveying assignments while learning the methods of work. Assist the Party Chief as directed to complete surveys. Maintain survey equipment and survey vehicle inventory. Operate a total station instrument and data collector. Operate a GPS rover. Operate a level and read a level rod. Complete basic field calculations. Clear survey lines using hand tools. Assist with maintaining records, preparing reports, and other nonessential functions as required. Work in a safe manner and obey all safety regulations. Must be able to work outside in various conditions (swamps, woods, highways/roadways, etc.). Must be able to travel as needed. The successful candidate will collect field survey data for various types of surveys including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, wetland and tree locations, construction layout, and similar fieldwork.

Work Environment

Role is located in Cayce, SC or Columbia, SC. Rotating crews for the I-95 and I-26 Project. One week, the work schedule will be 7 PM - 5 AM and the next week 7 AM - 5 PM. This position may require travel for a full week, leaving Monday and returning home on Friday. Per diem is included for travel ($60 per day for incidentals/food). The party chief will book the hotel.
