SUMMARY

The primary objective of this position is to coordinate and execute maintenance electrical functions safely in the facility, so the plant equipment and services perform at maximum levels and minimize unscheduled interruption of the plant operation.  This position also trains other junior level craft persons on electrical maintenance procedures and best practices.  Strong knowledge of programmable logic controllers, electrical systems, and process control systems is required. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensures operation of machinery and electrical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on electrical related systems Makes timely and appropriate decisions when an emergency or breakdown occurs so that production interruption is minimized Performs analysis to identify appropriate maintenance practices (e.g., Root Cause Failure Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Reliability-centered maintenance analysis). Diagnoses electrical problems and determines how to correct them, checking schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary Coordinates contract electrical installations or repairs in the facility Provides direction for downtime and shop work for electrical activities Trains others on electrical maintenance procedures and best practices Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing professional and intercompany networks Actively engage in the plant's Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts through maintaining 5S standards and area/pillar activities as assigned. General housekeeping in your work area Remain actively 100% engaged in all safety initiatives and comply with all plant safety regulations All other duties as assigned or needed that can be performed safely

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The employee should hold the following abilities:

Properly use tools and housekeeping resources (examples – mop, broom, powered industrial floor scrubber, shovel, pick, paint brush, lawn mower, weed eater, rake, etc.) Must perform basic mathematical calculations Verifiable and sustained authorization to work in the United States Must be able to read, write, and speak English Must learn new controls technologies and systems as required throughout plant Must pass the written test and place at the designated level for this job classification Accepts feedback and deals calmly and effectively with high stress situations Monitors status of performance delivery against expectations Requires little or no supervision, and operates both safely and with a sense of urgency

 

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPETENCIES

The employee must be able to:

Proficiently navigate computer systems / software May be required to log into and navigate production monitoring systems such as SAP for work notifications, quality and production tracking, etc. PLC programming at a basic and verifiable level

         

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee must possess the following:

High School Diploma or GED equivalency Two-year associates degree in electrical technologies or equivalent Minimum 3 years relevant industrial electrical maintenance experience Requires proficiency exam at a passing score to demonstrate understanding of the following areas: Programmable Logic Controllers Electrical Systems Process Control Systems Electrical Maintenance Safety Electronics Mechanical Systems

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

Ability to lift-up to 40 lbs. without assistance Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment Routinely ascend and descend stairs and ladders as work area requires; work from heights or confined space Work around various oils, lubrications, raw materials without adverse physical reaction
