**Overview**
Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. **Responsibilities**
The Instrument Technician is a member of the health care team who works under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator OR. The incumbent prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization. This includes decontamination assembly and packaging in accordance with manufacturers instructions. The incumbent coordinates instrument repair and maintenance with a contracted vendor maintains instrument trays by recommending replacement purchases to their supervisor. The incumbent performs routine maintenance on the sterilizers such as cleaning paper roll and graph replacement and performs and documents biologic and chemical monitoring procedures. The incumbent maintains the decontamination and assembly areas in good order and performs other duties as directed which may include but not limited to assisting with patient care room cleaning answering phones and transporting patients.
The incumbent shall demonstrate behaviors consistent with the core (Mercy) values in support with Mercy General Hospital and the Mission and Philosophy of Dignity Health.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirement:**
+ This position requires Six (6) months Sterile Processing/Operating Room environment of CSPD Technician. Will consider Instrument Techs who have graduated from an accredited sterile processing program and completed an externship at Mercy San Juan Central Sterilization Department.
+ Surgery Technician training and knowledge of surgical instruments and the appropriate cleaning and decontamination processes and infection control practices in relation to Standard Precautions.
+ Candidates must have completed a Certified Sterile Processing Program Medical Terminology
+ BLS from the American Heart Association.
+ CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) from CBSPD
+ The CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) from CBSPD
+ The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from IAHCSMM
+ International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management and BLS from AHA certified provider is required.
**Pay Range**
$30.53 - $34.30 /hour
