This position is responsible for all Instrumentation and Control duties in the maintenance, operation, and repair of Instrumentation and Control systems. They assist with and perform installation and maintenance tasks in order to ensure the safe and effective operation of various Instrumentation and Control, Electrical and mechanical equipment. This position reports to the Electrical Supervisor.
Accountabilities:
Dayshift Monday to Friday: 7:00am-3:30pm
Help with Shift Coverage during vacation and staff outages.
Actively contribute to the “TEAM” by working diligently to correct and prevent any instrumentation, electrical or mechanical problems where there is a safety or food safety risk or where there is the potential to limit OEE.
Responsible for identifying, detecting and documenting all potential repair problems on the above-mentioned equipment during your normal duties.
Responsible for reporting any HACCP Food Safety Risk’s or identified problems.
Attend Team meetings as required
Managing daily SAP - Accountable for all Instrument/Electrical deficiencies/findings by creating a Work Notification (work orders, Maintenance plans)
Maintain and manage equipment calibration and repair documentation.
Installs, maintains and configures control network and process systems (Profibus, Devicenet, Ethernet) in collaboration with the site programmer.
Installs, maintains and repair electrical/instrumentation/mechanical equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that the work is in accordance with relevant codes.
Calibrates, commissions, configures, installs and troubleshoots all pneumatic, electronic, electrical, mechanical and analytical instrumentation devices
Services environmental and other analytical instruments
Must work closely with production and maintenance supervision as a team player to keep line running with minimum downtime.
Responsible for housekeeping in shop and any work areas.
Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Verbally communicate identified Emergency/Urgent repair problems effectively.
Must comply with GMP’s, Safety, and HACCP Best Operating Procedures.
Must be able and willing to promote continuous improvement of workplace safety.
Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Time Management – Managing one’s own time and the time of others.
Maintains Safety standards of equipment and work area according to established procedures and as instructed by the manager.
Other duties as required by the needs of the business.
Qualifications:
An Industrial Electrician and Instrumentation Technician Certification is preferred. An Industrial Electrician with experience as an Instrumentation Technician will be considered, will be required to fulfill the requirements to be an Instrumentation Technician within a specified time frame. Proof of valid license is required.
Background in electronics/PLC’s required and /or willing and capable of obtaining further Electrical training and certification, as well as further training within the areas of Instrumentation and PLC programming
Self-motivated individual having good organizing and coordinating skills with a proven track record.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of electrical equipment.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Maintenance experience would be an asset.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Effective Verbal and Written communication skills are essential.
Developing respectful, constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Understand the fundamentals of a CMMS (SAP) and be able to utilize it for daily work.
Observant and detail-minded with a natural sense of urgency.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and CMMS programs.
